Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of whistleblowing mechanisms and investigative accounting in uncovering financial fraud cases within organizational settings, particularly in the context of increasing financial complexity and digital transformation. The integration of behavioral reporting systems and forensic investigative approaches is considered essential in strengthening fraud detection capabilities. This research employs a qualitative approach using a systematic literature review method. Relevant academic sources were collected from peer-reviewed international journals, books, and indexed publications focusing on whistleblowing systems, investigative accounting, fraud detection, and organizational governance. The collected literature was analyzed using thematic synthesis. Key concepts were identified, coded, and categorized to explore the relationship between whistleblowing mechanisms and investigative accounting in fraud detection processes. The analysis emphasizes the interaction between behavioral reporting systems and forensic analytical techniques. The findings indicate that whistleblowing mechanisms are effective as early fraud detection tools, particularly when supported by ethical organizational culture, leadership integrity, and secure reporting systems. Investigative accounting further strengthens fraud detection by validating reports through forensic analysis, digital evidence examination, and financial data reconstruction. The study concludes that the combination of whistleblowing mechanisms and investigative accounting creates a comprehensive fraud detection framework that improves organizational accountability and strengthens fraud prevention in modern financial systems.
