THE ROLE OF DIGITAL DA'WAH IN ENHANCING UNDERSTANDING OF JIHAD: A CASE STUDY OF THE YOUTUBE PROGRAM LOG IN EPISODE 'WAKTUNYA BER"JIHAD"!!'
Abstract
Jihad is often misunderstood as an act of violencer or war, while its true meaning in Islam encompasses a broader concept of personal and collective struggle for goodness, justice, and self-improvement. In the digital age, platforms like YouTube have become effective tools for disseminating accurate and moderate interpretation of jihad in the YouTube program Log In episode ‘Waktunya Ber”Jihad”!!’ through a qualitative content analysis approach. The research focuses on identifying the main themes of the content, analyzing the communication style used to convey the message, and understanding audience responses to the video. The findings reveal that the episode successfully redefines jihad as a peaceful and constructive effort, emphasizing its relevance to everyday struggles and contribution to societal welfare. The program employs a creative and entertaining communication style, including humor and visual aids, to engage a younger audience. Audience responses, analyzed through digital etnography, highlight a predominantly positive reception, with many viewers expressing appreciation for the episode’s clarity and relatability. This study contributes to the understanding of how digital da’wah can promote moderate interpretations of religious concepts and foster social awareness in diverse audiences.
