STUDENT PERCEPTIONS OF AI CLAUDE AS A TOOL FOR ACADEMIC WRITING DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in colleges and universities is growing quickly, especially for helping with writing. This study looks at how students in English Language Education feel about using Claude, an AI tool, for their writing. The researchers used a qualitative method that focuses on understanding people's experiences. They created a questionnaire on Google Forms to gather information from students who have used AI for writing. The answers were examined to find common themes. The results showed that Claude can really help improve writing. Students said the tool was useful for coming up with ideas, fixing grammar, and organizing their work. Some of the main benefits included writing faster, having better grammar, and clearer ideas. However, students also mentioned some problems, like needing specific instructions and the tool not having enough information. Students raised concerns about ethics, stressing the need to keep academic honesty and critical thinking when using AI tools. The study suggests that while AI can change education for the better, it should be used carefully to help students grow while still encouraging creativity and maintaining academic standards.
